Verisk pegs Japan earthquake insured property loss at $1.8bn-$3.3bn

Insured losses to property from the New Year’s Day earthquake in western Japan are expected to fall between 260bn yen and 480bn yen ($1.8bn-$3.3bn), according to Verisk.

Japan’s Noto Peninsula was struck by a magnitude 7.5 earthquake on New Year’s Day, causing heavy damage in the Ishikawa prefecture, particularly the city of Wajima.
