AerCap subsidiary receives $500mn payout from Russian airline

Celestial Aviation Services, a subsidiary of the world’s largest aircraft lessor AerCap, has received a cash insurance settlement of $501.5mn, making it the latest lessor to receive such a payout for aircraft stranded in Russia.

The settlement relates to 14 aircraft the lessor had leased to an unnamed Russian airline. Celestial said it received the payment at the end of the 2022 financial year.
