Higher expenses for Next Gen build drive PPL 2022 surplus lower

The not-for-profit placement platform PPL generated a surplus after tax of £1.48mn for 2022, a substantial drop from an £8.83mn surplus after tax in 2021, as administrative expenses increased to fund its new Next Gen platform.

PPL's recently published annual accounts for 2022 showed that while PPL's turnover was broadly similar to the prior year, coming in at just under £30mn, administrative expenses rose 63% from £16.9mn
