Reduced re nat-cat capacity will make P&C results more volatile: Moody’s

The volatility of property and casualty (P&C) insurers’ results could increase as carriers take on more cat risk with a view to maintaining their reinsurance budgets, analysis from Moody’s shows.

The ratings agency noted that reinsurers have reduced nat-cat coverage this year while ramping up prices, which has led many primary insurers to retain more risk.
