The Financial Services and Markets Bill has been granted royal assent following an 18-month period of drafting and consultation.

The legislation is designed to boost the competitiveness of the regulatory regime in the City of London, and increase the accountability of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulation Authority.
