After an exodus from the Net-Zero Insurance Alliance (NZIA), this publication has unearthed fears that insurers will adopt divergent methods to measure insurance emissions, with concerns that a surge of disparate data-gathering exercises would be a “disaster” for insureds.

Sources explained how the exodus had inadvertently revealed issues with a methodology to measure underwriting emissions that the UN-convened alliance had agreed to adopt.
