Insurers to take small percentage of billion-euro Italian flooding: Aon

Economic costs from recent flooding in Italy and Central Europe are expected to reach into the billions of euros, but a significant protection gap for flood coverage means insurance losses are likely to be a smaller percentage of the total costs, according to Aon.

The broker said that damage assessment from the flooding between 14-17 May was ongoing, but the extensive level of flooding indicated that economic losses will be in the billions of euros.
