Sudan listed as high-risk area for marine underwriters by Joint War Committee

The Lloyd’s Market Association Joint War Committee (JWC) has added Sudan to its list of high-risk areas, meaning marine war underwriters will be able to charge additional premiums for ships sailing in the area.

Under typical marine war policy wordings, once an area is listed by the JWC underwriters can issue a seven-day notice of cancellation, then charge breach premiums for vessels calling in high-risk waters.
