The 1 January renewals have provided a snapshot of multiple markets at a moment of significant volatility while pricing cycles in insurance and reinsurance begin to align, according to Howden.

In the broker’s latest renewal report, The Great Realignment, it said volatility has been caused by a confluence of factors including geopolitical and macroeconomic shocks such as the Ukraine war, the energy crisis, inflation and Hurricane Ian.
