The UK government has appointed City banker Sir Laurie Magnus as an independent adviser on ministers’ interests.

Sir Laurie is a prolific banker with links to several deals in the London market. He has spent 40 years in corporate finance advice, having been chair of Lexicon Partners, which was acquired by Evercore in 2011.
