Reinsurance attachments are moving back towards levels that protect insurers’ capital rather than earnings, JMP analysts Matt Carletti and Karol Chmiel wrote in a note.

They said European catastrophe treaty attachments appeared to be coalescing around the 1-in-5-year level, up from something closer to 1-in-2 or 1-in-3 in recent years.
