The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (Floir) has received $10.27bn in estimated claims costs from primary carriers for Hurricane Ian.

In mid-November, the organisation had reported $9.6bn.

Ian struck Florida’s east coast near Fort Myers as a Category 4 hurricane on 28 September, then weakened to a Category 1 storm and travelled slowly across the state, bringing heavy precipitation.
