The reporting season for second-quarter earnings is upon us, with Marsh McLennan the curtain raiser for the brokers on Thursday and Beazley the first specialty (re)insurer to report on Friday.

The quarter certainly hasn’t a been quiet one for (re)insurance, with ongoing challenges around inflation, a handful of cat loss events, and a mid-year renewal which laid bare the challenges in the cat reinsurance market.
