The European Union (EU) still intends to ban companies from providing insurance to Russian oil cargoes, despite rowing back on wider proposed measures to ban EU companies from transporting Russian oil to third countries, according to reports.

Brussels shelved plans to prohibit European shipping companies from transporting Russian oil during negotiations over the weekend, according to reports in the Financial Times and Bloomberg, after strong opposition from Greece, which has a large shipping industry.
