AerCap’s $3.5bn insurance claim is substantially higher than the value of its fleet on the ground, the lessor revealed yesterday in its full-year results.

Prior to the outbreak of conflict in the Ukraine, AerCap had 135 aircraft and 14 engines worth $3.1bn – roughly 5% of its entire fleet – on the ground in Russia.
