RAB calls for UK to fully recognise EEA regulation of reinsurers

UK branches of foreign reinsurers should be subject to limited, if any, additional UK regulation post-Brexit, the Insurance Europe Reinsurance Advisory Board (RAB) has told the House of Lords inquiry into commercial (re)insurance regulation.

The RAB said it welcomed recent Treasury decisions granting European jurisdictions regulatory equivalence status but argued that its suggestions would further support efforts to ensure streamlined cross-border operations.
