Sampo to pay £685mn for RMI share in Hastings

Finnish financial services firm Sampo has agreed to pay £685mn ($907mn) for RMI’s 30% stake in UK car insurer Hastings, as well as RMI’s option to acquire 10% of Hasting’s share capital from Sampo by May 2022.

The move comes just over a year after Hastings agreed to a £1.66bn takeover offer by Sampo and RMI, at which point the latter upped its share in Hastings from 29.7%.
