Google case verdict could spare insurers of liability claim influx

BRITAIN-LONDON-PROROGATION SUPREME COURT

The UK Supreme Court has ruled in Google’s favour in a data protection case that could have sparked millions of payouts for Apple iPhone users and left insurers exposed to liability and cyber claims.

In a case backed by litigation funders that was brought against Google by an individual, Richard Lloyd, the claimant sought compensation for iPhone users whose data he argued was processed unlawfully in 2011 and 2012.
