The mass shutdown of businesses in a bid to halt the spread of disease represents a systemic political risk that cannot be covered by the reinsurance market, according to OdysseyRe EMEA CEO Isabelle Dubots-Lafitte.

The executive said of government mandate that there were “no limits to its field of actions and applications”, making it by definition a systemic risk.
