Political riots in South Africa are likely to result in insurance claims for damage and theft of 7bn-10bn rand ($481mn-$683mn), according to the state-owned political violence insurer Sasria.

A representative of the firm told Reuters that it had received 100mn rand in claims so far, and the number was expected to rise significantly.
