ICA welcomes High Court arguments for BI test case appeal

The Australian High Court has agreed to hear arguments backing an application for leave to appeal a test case ruling on BI cover, after a New South Wales appeals court ruled partly in favour of policyholders.

The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) welcomed the decision and reiterated that it remained of the view that pandemics were not contemplated for coverage under most BI policies and that the Quarantine Act exclusion excludes Covid-19-related claims.
