AM Best confirms Sellek appointment

AM Best has confirmed the appointment of former Lloyd’s commercial director Roger Sellek, a development first reported in Insider Week No 271.

Sellek joins the rating agency in early May as managing director of Global Financial Services for AM Best Europe.

As previously reported, Sellek will be work from AM Best’s London offices reporting to chief rating officer Larry Mayewski, with responsibility for managing existing relationships with key constituents in the insurance and broader financial services sectors outside of the US.

He will also provide input on rating criteria, working closely with senior analytical and business development staff at the agency.

Mayewski said Sellek would help AM Best communicate its goals and viewpoints to the marketplace.

“There is a strong fit between Roger’s experience and skills and the demands of this important new role in our organisation,” he added.

Sellek parted company with Lloyd’s in July 2005 as part of a restructuring that saw the Corporation move further away from a regulatory emphasis to one of operational risk management.

After moving from his position as managing director of Lloyd’s Market Risk Unit to become commercial director in 2000, Sellek was responsible for managing the market’s relationships with investors, analysts, the broking community, and rating agencies.
