The Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) has estimated A$743mn ($489.6mn) of insured losses from Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper and the Christmas and New Year storms.

According to the ICA’s first estimate, it has received 8,068 claims in relation to Jasper costing A$202mn.

Between 10-16 December, Jasper impacted regions of Australia from Cape York Peninsula in the northeast to Townsville in the south.
