Water levels remain high in Germany, Netherlands after persistent rain

Parts of Germany and the Netherlands have experienced severe flooding as fresh rainfall hits already saturated ground.

The German weather service, the Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD), issued warnings before Christmas of persistent rain for six states.

Although the warnings have now been lifted, the DWD warned that water levels remain too high in some places.
