Reinsurance fund launched to protect African smallholders from climate impact

African Risk Capacity (ARC) has teamed up with One Acre Fund, the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) to launch a reinsurance fund called One Acre Fund Re.

ARC will supply (re)insurance capacity to the fund, which seeks to provide a “critical financial safety net” for one million smallholder farmers in Africa in 2024, with hopes to cover at least four million farmers by 2030.
