Rates are set to increase “steadily to modestly” come 1 January, according to Hiscox CFO Paul Cooper, as the market enjoys the "best underwriting conditions for a decade – maybe 20 years”.

In a call with investors to discuss Hiscox’s Q3 trading statement, Cooper said the carrier was deploying capital into the hard market at “attractive returns”.
