Axis Capital reported a 11.6-point improvement in its combined ratio to 92.7% and top-line growth of 11.6% while the company continues its specialty pivot.

The year-on-year improvement in underwriting performance was driven by smaller pre-tax catastrophe and weather-related losses, which totaled $42mn for the quarter, compared to $212mn a year ago.
