IAG’s claim costs over the first half of its financial year were “more than we expected”, managing director and CEO Nick Hawkins told investors at the carrier’s AGM.

The carrier recorded natural-peril costs of around A$120mn ($77.1mn) for the period to the end of September.

It said this figure included $47mn in additional claims from events in full-year 2023, primarily from the Hunter Hailstorm.
