Lloyd’s has launched a systemic risk scenario modelling the global economic impact of extreme weather events leading to food and water shocks, which estimates the loss to be $5tn over a five-year period.

The exercise – the first of a series of nine systemic risk scenarios – looks at how an increase in climate-driven extreme weather could lead to crop failures and food and water shortages.
