Shares in Aviva were trading up over 7% this morning following speculation in the media that several parties are mulling a takeover of the insurer, but they have fallen from a mid-morning peak.

Shares were trading at 417 pence by 12:45 London time, having closed at 388.4 pence yesterday, after The Times reported that suitors were examining the business.
