Allianz Commercial has warned that the renewable energy market must learn lessons from past losses relating to cables, amid an “epic” scale global rollout of offshore wind power.

The insurer said in a report that 53% of offshore wind claims by value in the key geographies of Germany and Central Eastern Europe stemmed from cable damage between 2014-2020.
