Swiss Re expects a “transition year” of improving profitability for non-life insurers in 2023, partly due to the benefit of higher interest rates which far outpaces the increased cost of capital.

While this will result in a much-needed improvement, the reinsurer noted in its latest Sigma report that most P&C insurers are likely to still miss their cost of capital targets.
