The current Hurricane Idalia forecasts point towards the event causing an insured loss in the low single-digit billions as the storm continues to advance towards Florida’s Big Bend region, according to commentary from Gallagher Re.

The broker said it was too early to offer any more specific guidance, but at present the hurricane was forecast to strike an area of low population and exposure density.
