Hurricane Idalia is forecast to make landfall in Florida as an “extremely dangerous Category 4” hurricane later this morning, according to the latest National Hurricane Center (NHC) update.

The storm rapidly intensified overnight, racing from Category 2 to Category 3 late yesterday and hitting wind speeds of 120 miles per hour as of a 02:00 EDT advisory.
