Generali P&C operating profit for H1 overtakes life for first time

Generali’s P&C first-half operating profit increased by 85.7% to EUR1.85bn ($2.03bn) and, for the first time, was higher than Generali’s life business unit’s operating result.

The carrier said the P&C results reflected its ongoing portfolio-rebalancing strategy and was enabled by “substantial improvement” in the underwriting result, the positive effect of discounting and the increase in operating investment income.
