The recent riots in Paris have further highlighted the growing profile of strikes, riots and civil commotion (SRCC) risks, as losses could still move beyond the domestic market despite significant clampdowns on coverage in the past year, sources told this publication.

France has faced several periods of unrest this year alone, but the most recent riots, which began on 27 June following the fatal police shooting of 17-year-old Nahel Merzouk, have been far more costly than previous events.
