The number of total losses of vessels in 2022 fell to 38 from the previous year’s 59, producing a 65% decline in annual losses over 10 years, according to Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (AGCS).

In its 2023 Safety and Shipping Review, AGCS noted that, 30 years ago, the global shipping fleet lost 200 or more vessels each year.
