Met Office predicts above-normal Atlantic hurricane activity for 2023

The UK Met Office has predicted there will be 11 hurricanes in the North Atlantic during the 2023 hurricane season, well above the 1991-2020 long-term average of seven.

It has forecast that five will be major hurricanes, with a 70% chance that there could be as few as three major hurricanes or as many as seven.
