Aviva has reported 16% growth across its global corporate and specialty (GCS) business in the first quarter of 2023, recording gross written premium (GWP) of £1.13bn ($1.41bn) compared with £976mn in the same period last year.

UK commercial lines GWP increased by 15% over the period, driven by strong new business and retention, the continuation of a favourable rate environment and 15% growth in its SME portfolio.
