Average offshore wind loss increased sevenfold 2012-2021: GCube

The average size of offshore wind claims has increased from £1mn ($1.25mn) in 2012 to more than £7mn in 2021, as inflation and the increasing size of turbines weigh against insurers, according to a report from GCube.

The report said the relentless increase in the size of turbines was a “significant concern” for the insurance industry, raising questions about whether sizes were rising too fast.
