Peak Re books first ever net loss for 2022 at $81mn

Peak Re has recorded its first annual net loss for 2022 of $81mn, as it contended with heavy cat losses in South Africa, Australia, Europe and the US.

The carrier booked gross written premium (GWP) of $2.3bn for the year, up 7% compared to 2021.

Net earned premium fell by 12.8%
