Mapfre Q1 net profit down 17.4% at EUR127.6mn

Mapfre has posted a net result of EUR127.6mn ($140.8mn) for the first quarter, down 17.4% on the prior-year period.

The carrier said the reduction in quarterly profit was mainly due to the impact of the earthquake that struck Turkey in February, which it estimated would have a net cost of EUR77mn.
