Berkshire Hathaway Reinsurance Group (BHRG) has reported a 2022 pre-tax underwriting profit of $1.39bn compared with a $930mn loss the year before.

The segment’s combined ratio improved 8.7 points to 86.4%, driven by net increases in new property business, higher rates and the inclusion of TransRe.
