Axa increases nat cat retention across all perils as it plans to cut exposure by 35%

Axa is planning to reduce Axa XL Re’s catastrophe exposure by a further 35% over the next year, deputy CEO Frédéric Marie de Courtois D'Arcollières has told investors.

D'Arcollières said Axa’s nat cat load was “broadly unchanged” but that the carrier had been impacted by inflation and “less capacity in the reinsurance market at the beginning of the year”.
