Insurers face ‘critical risk’ of becoming irrelevant amid cat retreat: McKinsey

Global P&C insurers must reassert their relevance by reducing cat-related protection gaps to fulfil a societal desire for resilience, according to a McKinsey report.

The consultancy group warned that, after adjusting for rate growth, global commercial P&C premiums have lagged behind real global GDP growth during the past three years, indicating what it called “a drop in the relevance of commercial lines”.
