Zurich’s P&C operating profit up 14% as combined ratio remains flat

Zurich’s P&C unit’s operating profit for 2022 increased by 14% as the segment benefited from a record level of premiums and a combined ratio of 94.3%, in line with the previous-year period.

Losses: The carrier’s P&C unit reported lower catastrophe and weather-related claims. The decreased loss activity was offset, however, by the inflationary environment in the retail and SME business in the second half of 2022.
