The executive will join Lockton after more than 12 years at Aon, where he was a LatAm-focused reinsurance broker based in London.
Before that the executive worked for two years at Colemont Insurance Brokers, following a three-year stint at Benfield.
It is understood that the executive will continue to be based in London and will not move to Miami, where Lockton’s LatAm operations are located.
Lockton has been growing its LatAm treaty practice in recent months with the addition of senior executives.
Last year, this publication revealed that the Kansas-City-headquartered firm hired Tom Cunningham from Patria Re and Pat Anderson from Aon to co-lead the LatAm treaty unit.
The buildout is understood to be part of a broader global strategy Lockton Re has undertaken under the leadership of Tim Gardner.
The LatAm treaty build-out resembles Lockton’s growth strategy in the fac segment a few years before, with senior hires including Tony Matta and Julian Pratt.
The company has also expanded its regional operations via M&A. Last year, this publication revealed that Lockton struck a deal to buy the Colombian retailer Sekuritas.
Lockton and Aon declined to comment.
