Reinsurers’ push on terms strives for clarity but muddies some issues

The January reinsurance renewal focused heavily on structural changes as reinsurers sought to clean up terms and conditions in the harder market – but in some cases tougher terms and conditions may have had unintended consequences.

On top of specific issues such as increasing attachments or narrowing down hours clauses, reinsurers were also looking to remove their exposure to the Ukraine war, and it is here that some of the thornier issues arose.
