AM Best downgrades CEA ratings citing reduced claims-paying capacity

AM Best has downgraded the financial strength rating (FSR) of the California Earthquake Authority (CEA) to B++ (good) from A- (excellent).

AM Best said the ratings reflected CEA’s balance sheet strength, which it assessed as strong, as well as its strong operating performance, limited business profile and appropriate enterprise risk management.
