NFIP Ian payouts rise 29% to $2.2bn

The US Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) has paid $2.2bn to policyholders affected by Hurricane Ian as of yesterday (17 January).

The amount has risen 29% from the $1.7bn paid out in the most recent prior update, from earlier in January.
